The R&D project of seawater direct hydrogen production under the key R&D plan of Guangdong Province was launched
Recently, the kick-off meeting of the R&D project of "split modular seawater direct electrolysis hydrogen production technology and system equipment" in the field of "new energy storage and new energy" in Guangdong Province, in which Dongfu Research Institute participated, was held at Shenzhen University. Wen Xiaoyun, Director of the Frontier and High-tech Department of the Guangdong Provincial Department of Science and Technology, Lin Xiong, Director of the Guangdong Technology and Economy Research and Development Center, and other relevant leaders attended the meeting.
Academician Mao Junfa, President of Shenzhen University, delivered a speech at the meeting, and Vice President Zhou Hui presided over the meeting. More than 40 people attended the meeting, including Academician Wang Hualin, leader of the expert group of the project kick-off meeting, Academician Xie Heping, project leader, Liu Taisheng, general manager of Dongfu Research Institute, and sub-project leaders and key members of the project team from Shenzhen University, Sichuan University, Dongfu Research Institute and Dongfang Heavy Machinery.

Facing the medium- and long-term planning of the national hydrogen energy industry and the strategic needs of "double carbon", with the support of the key R&D plan of Guangdong Province, Academician Xie Heping's team, together with Dongfu Research Institute and Dongfang Heavy Machinery, focuses on the research and development of core technologies and equipment for efficient, stable and compatible direct hydrogen production from seawater, forming a full-chain marine green hydrogen development path from original principles, disruptive technologies, localized equipment to characteristic electrolysis hydrogen production industrial models, maintaining the global leading edge of seawater direct hydrogen production technology without desalination, and creating a Ocean green hydrogen" emerging strategic industry new track.
Academician Xie Heping gave a comprehensive introduction to the project plan from the aspects of R&D project organization and management, implementation plan and safeguard measures, and Liu Taisheng, general manager of Dongfu Research Institute, made a supplementary speech on the current stage achievements of the project team in the research and development of seawater direct hydrogen production equipment. Experts from all parties at the meeting focused on the main research content, innovation points and implementation plans of the project, and put forward specific opinions and suggestions. The expert group unanimously agreed to adopt the implementation plan of the project.
The successful holding of this kick-off meeting marks that the research and development of "split modular seawater desalination-free direct electrolysis hydrogen production technology and system equipment" has officially entered the full implementation stage. Through the implementation of the project, we will carry out the research and development and iteration of large-scale seawater direct electrolysis hydrogen production equipment system without desalination in an environment resistant to uncontrollable fluctuations of the ocean, so as to achieve efficient and long-term stable operation of the overall system, which will effectively promote our country's original new seawater direct hydrogen production industrialization process.
