Valve-maker-turned-hydrogen-systems player unveils its first water electrolysis unit, with 700kVA input and 99.999% purity for Japan’s domestic market

KHG-PX100 will be offered as made-to-order equipment, with future capacity range up to 500Nm³/h

KITZ Corporation has entered the electrolyser market with the launch of its first proton exchange membrane (PEM) hydrogen generation unit, targeting Japan’s growing demand for renewable hydrogen infrastructure. Announced this week, the KHG-PX100 is engineered to deliver 100 normal cubic metres of ultra-pure hydrogen per hour from water—intended to integrate directly with renewables for low-emission fuel production. The equipment will be showcased later this month at the H₂ & FC EXPO in Chiba.

The Tokyo-based company, historically known for high-pressure valve systems for liquefied and gaseous hydrogen, says this new unit expands its capabilities beyond component supply into turnkey production. “With the launch of PEM Water Electrolysis Hydrogen Generation Unit, we aim to go beyond simply supplying valves and support the infrastructure for hydrogen production, transportation, storage, and utilization,” KITZ said. The skid-mounted system includes a control panel, electrolysis stack, purification system, and gas-liquid separator, delivering hydrogen with a purity above 99.999% at a dew point below -65°C. The operating pressure is rated at up to 0.85MPaG.

The KHG-PX100 measures just under 14 metres in length and weighs approximately 25 tonnes. It runs on a 700kVA power supply (400V AC, 3-phase, 4-wire), and is managed by a PLC-based control system. KITZ also revealed it plans to expand capacity offerings to 500Nm³/h in future iterations. The company has not disclosed pricing or lead times, stating only that the units are made-to-order. A miniature version of the unit will be presented at Booth E10-6 during the September 17–19 trade show at Makuhari Messe, with KITZ reaffirming its commitment to “supporting social infrastructure through fluid control technologies and materials development.”
