Groundbreaking Ceremony Held for Huadian Tiaobingshan Green Methanol Demonstration Project
September 21, a groundbreaking ceremony was held for the Huadian Tiaobingshan Wind Power-to-Hydrogen Coupled Green Methanol Demonstration Project in Tiaobingshan, Liaoning. The project, which has a total investment of 3.945 billion yuan, is a landmark initiative for Huadian Liaoning Company and a key part of Liaoning's revitalization efforts.
Selected as one of the first national pilot projects for green liquid fuel technology, the project will integrate a 450 MW wind farm, a hydrogen production and storage facility, and a 100,000-tonne-per-year methanol synthesis plant. Upon completion, it will produce 19,000 tonnes of green hydrogen and 100,000 tonnes of green methanol annually, helping to establish an integrated energy industry of "electricity-hydrogen-chemical industry."
Representatives from both the municipal government and China Huadian highlighted the project's significance. Li Wenbiao, speaking for the municipal government, called it a "vivid practice" of fostering new quality productive forces and an important step in Tieling's industrial transformation. Jiang Qingsong of China Huadian emphasized the company's long-standing partnership with Tieling and its commitment to building a green energy industrial chain in Liaoning.
The project is expected to drive economic development in Tieling by attracting new equipment manufacturing enterprises and positioning Liaoning as a leader in green hydrogen-based energy.
