  • Shenzhen-based BriHyNergy delivers three 1MW PEM stacks to unnamed European customer in second shipment to continent
  • Efficiency specs rival top-tier systems, as Europe braces for price pressure from Chinese-made electrolysers

Chinese hydrogen tech firm BriHyNergy has shipped a 3MW proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolyser system to an undisclosed European client—marking its second confirmed delivery to the continent as it continues expanding its footprint beyond China. The shipment includes three BriLyzer R200 stacks, each rated at 1MW, which passed factory acceptance tests before being dispatched. The units will operate at 35 bar and use in-house developed membranes and membrane electrode assemblies (MEAs). “We are committed to providing scalable green hydrogen solutions worldwide and supporting the global energy transition,” said a BriHyNergy spokesperson.

The BriLyzer R200 boasts efficiency of 78–84% (HHV) with power consumption of 45–49 kWh/kg H₂, putting it on par with leading European systems. The company claims the stacks offer rapid dynamic response, stable voltage, and low hydrogen crossover, and are built to meet CE-marking requirements. In addition to PEM, BriHyNergy is also developing anion exchange membrane (AEM) electrolysers and has localised core components to cut costs. The firm operates a semi-automated 1GW stack assembly line and two 4GW production lines for membranes and MEAs at its Shenzhen factory.

The announcement arrives amid increasing concern in Europe over Chinese electrolysers undercutting domestic manufacturers. While Chinese companies have dominated alkaline systems to date, BriHyNergy and others—such as Shanghai H-RAY, which recently shipped a MW-class PEM electrolyser to South Africa’s ESKOM—are now targeting the PEM market. The International Energy Agency noted recently that when logistics and local installation costs are factored in, Chinese systems are nearing parity with Western offerings. BriHyNergy’s move signals intensifying competition in global PEM markets as it eyes expansion in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific.
