Indian startup HYDGEN has secured US$5 million in Pre-Series A funding to scale up production of its proprietary AEM (Anion Exchange Membrane) electrolyser systems, aiming to bring decentralized green hydrogen production directly to industrial sites. The round was led by energy-transition investor Transition VC, with backing from Cloudberry Pioneer Investments, Moringa Ventures, and several strategic family offices across Asia.

The company’s AEM stacks are designed to be modular and deployable at or near the point of use, eliminating transport losses and enabling ultra-pure hydrogen production without additional purification systems. “Our proprietary AEM electrolyzer technology is designed to make green hydrogen as accessible and cost-efficient as the grey hydrogen many industries still rely on,” the company said in a statement. The funds will be used to expand manufacturing capacity, accelerate commercial deployments, and advance HYDGEN’s technology roadmap.

HYDGEN’s strategy is built around three pillars: local hydrogen generation, simplified purification, and plug-and-play scalability. “We believe decentralized hydrogen generation will reshape the way industries think about energy, reliability, and resilience,” the company said, crediting its team and investors for helping advance its mission to decarbonize industrial energy at scale.
