Elogen secures third PEM electrolyser order
French electrolyser manufacturer Elogen will design and manufacture a 1MW PEM system for Slovakian firm RoyalStav.
As part of a green hydrogen project led by Veolia Energia Slovensko in Žiar nad Hronom, the project plans to inject green hydrogen into an existing combined heat and power (CHP) plant to replace natural gas.
Any surplus hydrogen will be made available for transport via a hydrogen refuelling station. H2 View understands that there is only one hydrogen refuelling station in Slovakia, located 174km away in Bratislava.
The GTT Group company Elogen is scheduled to install the electrolyser system in 2026. It represents the OEM’s third electrolyser order, after agreeing to supply electrolyser technology to Rockfin in Poland.
Peter Dobrý, Managing Director of Veolia Energia Slovensko, said the initiative will increase the share of renewable energy sources in Slovakia’s distribution system.
“The project provides grid stabilisation services by using excess electricity for hydrogen production and synergises with a photovoltaic plant to ensure green hydrogen production,” he said This initiative positions Veolia as a leader in hydrogen production while supporting EU taxonomy requirements and decarbonisation goals. The project is also in line with our strategic Green Up programme.”
In July, Elogen completed its first announced PEM electrolyser order, which was announced in 2023. A 2.5MW was delivered to a CrossWind-led project in the Netherlands.
However, the embattled firm has been under a strategic review by its parent company GTT Group. Elogen’s CEO stood down in February 2025 following a €33m EBITDA loss for the 2024 financial year.
